Generic Particle System: Minor update for Set ID node

I was running into a bit of an annoying issue with an animation that used fast-moving particles and motion blur, specifically with particles created through Geometry Nodes. It seems that Blender’s motion blur relies on the ID attribute of any given instance, so if that is changing or repeating, it causes the motion blur to think the instance moved rapidly from point A to point B because both instances share the same ID, or one expired and another was emitted with the same ID in quick succession.

For example, if you set the maximum range for the random value node being used to determine the IDs for each emitted particle to 5, you get the first image, where it’s blurring the positions of all the repeated IDs. If you set it to +- 1 billion, you get the second image, where each newly emitted particle’s ID remains completely unique. Hopefully.

With that in mind, I updated the Generic Particle System to use a new range of values. Previously the maximum ID value was 50,000. It is now +- 1 billion, being able to go up to +- 2 billion, meaning you can have up to 4 billion unique IDs, provided the seed doesn’t cause repetitions on frame change. It’s such an incomprehensibly large number, though, that it’s very unlikely to happen.

Go get the new update!
