Mr. Animal Gym Outfit

I decided to take DD’s outfit and refit it to the Mr. Animal base. That means you can also have them wear a nice set of shoes, gloves, and jockstrap, and recolor them with the Ucupaint nodes, or just retexture them completely!

I’ve updated both Mr. Badger and Mr. Behemoth with some new bones for the outfit, so please redownload them if you have a previous version. Downloads at the bottom of the page.

Installation

To add the outfit to a Mr. Animal base, download the .blend file, and then append the Gym Outfit collection to your file.

Then, parent all the new objects to the Mr. Animal armature object. Make sure you parent them as Object and not as Armature, as they already have an Armature modifier.

Go on the ShoeDeformCage, Jockstrap, and Gloves objects and change their Armature modifier target to the Mr. Animal armature.

Check the Shape Keys tab for each of the objects. If you see a purple driver on them set to 0.000, right click it and select Edit Driver to fix it.

On the Prop input, select the Mr. Animal armature as the target object. Once that is set, that driver should work correctly.

Do the same for all of the other drivers in the other objects.

If a particular shape key isn’t fitting the character quite so well, you can enter Edit mode with that shape key selected, and then adjust it so it fits better.

Make sure you are selecting the Shape Key you mean to edit!!

Selecting the incorrect shape key and then editing stuff around will lead to unpredictable results. If you want to be 100% certain of the shape key you are editing, you can click the star icon to enable Solo Active Shape Key. Just be sure that the key’s name is also highlighted in blue.

In the Shading tab, if you click on the Mr. Animal’s body, you will see a node labeled “Veins Exclusion.” This node is new and has been added to both Mr. Badger and Mr. Behemoth, and will exist in any subsequent Mr. Animal I make.

When using the Gym Outfit, connect the Result to the A input of the Overlay node to the right. This will remove veins from the covered portions of the body, as Displacement can make them poke through the clothing.

Changing colors

To change colors, you need to have Ucupaint. It is an extremely powerful layer-based texturing addon that works very similarly to Substance Painter, but free! To change the outfit’s color, click on any of the pieces of clothing, then go to the Texture Paint tab.

In the Texture Paint tab, you’ll see the Ucupaint window, and the different folders corresponding to each piece of clothing.

Once you open a folder, you’ll see the various masks. Click on one, and you’ll be able to modify its Color, Roughness, Metallic, and Normal values.

Play around! You can even add or remove layers, and paint entirely new patterns on this!

Once you’re happy, you can also choose to bake all of the colors into textures that you can use in other applications!
